EXPERIMENTAL TESTS WITH GPR – RIJEKA TORPEDO

As part of the investigation work in the hall of the Torpedo factory in Rijeka, experimental tests with ground penetrating radar (GPR) were conducted on 25 January 2021. The aim of the test is to determine the position of reinforcement in columns and beams. The test was performed on a total of 6 columns and 4 beams. The used GPR is a StructureScan Mini XT from GSSI with a centre frequency of 2.7 GHz.

The radargrams are obtained in real time, and the determination of the presence and location of the reinforcement is relatively fast. Moreover, the results obtained with the GPR were used to estimate the thickness of the concrete cover. Since a more accurate analysis of their thickness requires the processing of radargrams, further analysis was performed on the computer using the software package Radan.
